Did Adolf Hitler escape to South America after World War II?

Evidence, including DNA tests on remains, confirms he died in Berlin in 1945. Some conspiracy theories suggest that Adolf Hitler escaped Germany at the end of World War II and fled to South America, particularly Argentina. These theories are based on unconfirmed sightings and declassified intelligence reports that speculated on the possibility of Nazi fugitives escaping.

However, historical and forensic evidence overwhelmingly supports that Hitler died by suicide in his Berlin bunker on April 30, 1945. His body was burned, but Soviet forces later recovered fragments of his skull and jawbone. In 2009, DNA tests on the skull confirmed it belonged to someone from Hitler’s time, and dental records matched those of the Nazi leader.

While many Nazi officials did flee to South America—such as Adolf Eichmann and Josef Mengele—there is no credible evidence that Hitler was among them. The idea of his escape remains a myth, with all reliable sources confirming his death in Berlin.
